Day at the beach

Submitted by: moomin

Describe your idea. How does it work and who does it help?

A location-based mash-up that gives details of tide times, weather reports, sun index, beach cleanliness and local facilities (e.g. lifeguards, coastguard) to ensure trips to coastal areas are safe.

Adding information on known trouble-spots for tides and currents could help to avoid accidents and avoid costly call-outs.

Combining this with access routes for disabled people, local tourist information and amenities could provide benefits for tourists/tourism.

Giving users a chance to comment on locations and vote for favourite spots would also encourage use.

What information or services do you need?

Tide times; weather reports/warnings; Blue Flag data on beach cleanliness; SIC codes; local council data on location/duration of lifeguard posts, toilets and access routes
