Describe your idea. How does it work and who does it help?

You have ideas like Showusabetterway that enables people to  make use of free data held by the government. What if you could do the same and build real life creations using elements in and around your community ?

This could include free things that are given / donated by people (free space, rooms, offices, areas etc) and other resources such as time, materials and teamwork.

In a local area there are resources that are waiting to be used and integrated with ideas that people have. You could combine a bunch of people, scrubland, bits of wood and some equipment and build a natural reserve or open park. You could also create a sculpture or a cycle path to promote fitness.

People can log-on and search an area to see what others have submitted as a resource. So for example, in Area 51, there are a number of computers and spare rooms lying about. This combined with the need to create a learning environment then synergises to create an after school club for under-18s.

Searching Area 53 returns a list of resources that includes people's experience of building, planning, design and development. This knowledge harnessed with tools donated by others leads to the creation of a new community centre that serves the needs of its people.

It will be like a cross between Challenge Anneka and Blue Peter - where you have a goal/idea + spare resources given by others + teamwork = final realised creation.

Or to put it better :

1+1 = 3

Where the total is greater than the sum of its parts. People working together to create something better and greater than what was initially thought possible.
