Public Transport Optimiser
Submitted by: R Fulford
Describe your idea. How does it work and who does it help?
Presently there seems to be many assumptions made regards the routes of public transport and little use of the statistics of peoples actual journeys. One journey reguarly made by people, and fairly predictable, is the daily commute. If the details of all peoples commute were known optimisation routines could be developed to run through the data and determine which transport routes would be most beneficial to most people. With these routes determined, transport companies could bid to provide them, reasonably confident of the return they could expect. All commuters would benefit because public transaport would provide a viable alternative. The environment would benefit because less people would use their cars.
What information or services do you need?
Peoples tax affairs detail where they live and where they work so the data should be readily available. The optimisation routine would need to be developed.
