Donating Free Time and Skills for a Local Cause

Submitted by: Amrit Sandhu

Describe your idea. How does it work and who does it help?

In any community there are multiple skill levels and often people have some spare time. Collectively if people can commit say 1/2 hour per week this time can add up in man hours.

This process can be an excellent way to get people involved in their communities, empowering them to make positive change. Generally people tend to feel better about themselves when they donate or work towards a good cause.

The general idea is to have a lot of people giving a bit of their time collectively to a particular cause, so individually with a little bit of effort we can collectively make a big impact and get projects moving for virtually free.

Volunteers should be able to choose what local cause they would like to be involved in.

What's more this doesn't always have to be local, since many people can work from home over the web.

What information or services do you need?

The biggest thing would be needing a website whereby people can submit local causes and then register to them.
