Cabsharing

Submitted by: Christian Heilmann

Describe your idea. How does it work and who does it help?

I travel a lot, and most of the time I travel very early or very late or with luggage which rules out the tube. Therefore I take cabs or minicabs. It would be easy to share these with more people if only I knew when they travel. For example when you get to Paddington, the Heathrow Express announcements talk about taxi marshalls that help you share rides - I have yet to see one of those.

My idea is to set up a web product where I can say from where I travel, what plane or train I am taking and where I need to go at my destination.

People with the same itinerary then could group together ("hey I am also on flight xyz") and share rides. This means less waiting for a cab to be available, one less car in use and people meeting another (while one queues up at the destination for example the other one can get coffees).

This does not have to be on the same flight either. If two or more people from the same area have to go to the station or airport in the same time frame they can liaise.

What information or services do you need?

Train and Flight times and names to be able to find people on the same flight/train and locations to find people in my area that need to leave at a certain time to the same airport/station.
