All in one

Describe your idea. How does it work and who does it help?

My idea would be to setup a map of the UK with vital statistics to all the particular postcodes. For example, a home buyer may want to know what the crime rates are in their chosen location but also distance to nearest school, schools rating within the borough based on OFSTED data, average household income, general age of the local population e.g. an ageing village may gear its services to the older generation, national trust zones - to see if their is any areas of natural beauty around, traffic congestion issues with transportation information such as the local train station with live information on train services or local bus information, also information such as how many new business have setup within last year and how many have closed down in the last year would also be a strong indicator as to how successful the zone is and any major news in the local area e.g. major planning application which would highlight areas in local area which potentially will have buidling work or disruptions to them or a large factory closing down or one opening which would have implications on unemployment rate in the local area. Also a weather trend in the local area would be useful e.g. if someone wanted to put up a micro wind turbine or something that could be affected by the elements data from the met office would be very useful. And an excellent but final addition would be to allow the local population to upload photos of the local area which will highlight its features. What this map does would show any one who wished to move to an area an opportunity to see what it is like - the vital statistics, however, this tool would also be an excellent one to spark a better local council, highlight areas to the community that are in need of sorting out as well as for the police. Not only that but it pulls together information that will allow planners to see best locations and sites for e.g. wind turbines, and enables local government and national government to take the nessasary steps to improve provision or service e.g. schools, major and minor road network.

What information or services do you need?

Transportation network data with live updates (Buses and trains)
Maps based upon a google or live maps concept but using ordance survey maps
OFSTED data and local borough league tables

Police data
National Trust zones (OS MAPS)

Major planning information
Local photos
